If what you are looking for on your trip to the capital of Seville is an environment that combines the traditional atmosphere and the taste for the authentic with the modernity and avant-garde that has stood out in recent years in Seville, that place is, without a doubt, the Alameda de Hércules. It is where our Singular Alameda building is located.
This large boulevard, located in the historic center of the city, has become one of the fashionable places and a benchmark for the artistic and gastronomic avant-garde of the city. At Singular Apartments we strive to satisfy the desires of the most demanding travelers and that is why three of our tourist apartment buildings -Singular Alameda, Singular Gran Poder and Singular Peral- are located in this area.
Singular Alameda: convenience and comfort as basic ingredients
Today, we want to talk about them about the Singular Alameda building. Located in the middle of the Alameda de Hércules, on one of its sides closest to the well-known and also central Calle Feria, this property consists of four apartments distributed on a ground floor – with a small central courtyard – and three additional floors, as well as a communal terrace on its roof, where guests can enjoy the good weather of Seville and exceptional views during their hours of rest.
Convenience and comfort are the basic ingredients of each of the rooms in these apartments. Two of them have a couple of bedrooms and the other two have one, the one on the top floor being an attic with a terrace. Warm colours and top quality materials are also the keynote of these accommodations, in which not a single detail is missing to make your stay in them as similar as possible to what you would have in your own home. But always with a plus, that of the excellence of Singular Apartments.
In this tourist accommodation, which is located at the foot of a pedestrian street full of trendy entertainment and gastronomic venues a few steps from the most emblematic monuments of the city centre or other historic neighbourhoods such as La Macarena or the Guadalquivir River, its apartments are named after Roman gods. Do you want to know why?
A bit of history
Precisely, in our eagerness to link the past and the present, from Singular Apartments we wanted to play with the names of its apartments – Hercules, Athena, Apollo and Aphrodite – to make a small nod to the history of the city and to one of the key elements that crown the southern end of the Alameda boulevard, its two columns of Roman origin, moved to this public garden in 1574 from the remains of a building located in Seville’s Calle Mármoles. The sculptures of Hercules, mythical founder of the city, and Julius Caesar, restorer of Híspalis, crown these two columns, the first of which gives the name to the boulevard.
Next to this element, considered the first civil monument in Seville, there are two other columns that were erected at the northern end of the Alameda 190 years after its inauguration, in 1574, by the Count of Barajas (with a street named after him in the surroundings of the Alameda, where several of the outstanding bars and restaurants in the area are located).
Avant-garde and gastronomic and leisure benchmark
The Alameda de Hércules as we know it today has undergone profound changes since its inauguration. What is considered the largest public space in the Historic Center of Seville, is also the oldest boulevard in Europe. It was built on an old lagoon caused by the stagnation of the waters of the nearby Guadalquivir River, which was cleaned up and urbanized by the aforementioned Count of Barajas.
The granite floor that we can walk on today in this avenue was originally covered with the typical Sevillian albero. After a few years of splendour, in which it became a very frequented place and came to host a large market and the popular festivals of the city, the Alameda de Hércules went through, in the 80s, a period of decline that has already been overcome.
An amazing urban and social transformation that began just 30 years ago has turned the place into an avant-garde area and a benchmark for leisure for Sevillians and visitors. An environment where you can enjoy Sevillian traditions in places of yesteryear, but especially in the area of the city that brings together the largest number of state-of-the-art bars and restaurants or the most alternative shops and fashion spaces. All of them within reach in a few minutes of our apartments in the Singular Alameda building.
