Everything you need to know if you stay for a few days near the Alameda de Hércules

Alameda de Hércules

Trips are to disconnect, rest, get to know new places and forget about our day-to-day routine. Once we are clear about our destination, one of the first things we usually check before packing is the map of the area or neighborhood where we are going to stay to have a list of the essential places and places that we may need during our stay, such as supermarkets, pharmacies, means of transport and, of course, the best gastronomic and leisure options in our surroundings.

If you come to Seville and have chosen one of our apartments in the Alameda area, such as those in the Singular Alameda, Singular Peral or Singular Gran Poder building, you will be able to soak up one of the most avant-garde neighbourhoods of the Seville capital where there is also room for the traditional atmosphere and history. As we already told you in one of the previous posts on our blog. In addition, it is a very complete area where you can find everything without leaving it because it is almost a city within the city. If you don’t want to miss anything and want to have the most useful information about this neighborhood at hand, we recommend that you keep reading.

Useful information about the Alameda

Although our apartments are equipped with all kinds of comforts, we know that when you opt for this type of accommodation, most of the time you travel with the essentials in your luggage and you decide to get the refreshments at your destination. That is why we provide you with a list of useful places in the Alameda itself or near it:

Essentials in everyday life

  • If you need to buy food, drugstore or perfumery products, you have a wide assortment of supermarkets and small shops in the area. The closest is the Día supermarket on the corner of Alameda and Calle Santa Ana, with good local products. Also that of the same chain that is in Monte Sion Square, which usually has longer hours. Other supermarkets in the area are the Carrefour Express on Calle Amor de Dios, Calle Feria, Calatrava, Bécquer or Plaza de la Gavidia; the Super Sol of Marqués de la Mina or Juan Núñez; that of the El Jamón chain, on Jerónimo Hernández Street; or the Más supermarket on Calle Goles. In addition, on the boulevard of the Alameda itself you will find small grocery stores that can get you out of trouble if you need something specific. And if you are into ‘real food’ and a healthy and responsible lifestyle with nature, the area, very avant-garde as we said before, also has a wide variety of shops with organic products such as La Ortiga (on Calle Cristo del Buen Fin), La Despensa Ecológica (Calle Regina) or eco Artesana (on Calle Feria).
  • If you are in need of health or pharmacological products in the Alameda de Hércules itself, you can find the Alameda Pharmacy (open from Monday to Sunday from 09.30 to 22.00 hours, including holidays); or the pharmacy and parapharmacy on Trajano Street. But if what you need is a pharmacy open 24 hours a day, the closest one is in Amador de los Ríos or Doctor Fedriani.
  • Sometimes, during travel, there may be a need to go to a medical center. Although the emergency rooms of large hospitals in Spain attend to all patients, here is a small list of the nearest health centers: Alameda Health Center (Alameda, 5); Alameda Medical Center (Alameda, 24); or San Luis Health Center (on Inocentes Street s/n).
  • It is also very useful to have a police station near where we are staying in case we need their help (be careful not to lose your ID!). Don’t worry, on the same promenade of the Alameda there is a National Police station (next to the civic center of Las Columnas).

Means of transport

The strategic location of our apartments makes it easy for you to practically walk to all the places of interest in the centre. But you may want to visit other neighbourhoods or even travel to another nearby municipality. In that case, we detail the possibilities:

  • City buses (in the capital of Seville managed by Tussam) are the best option. During daytime hours they are operational from 06.00 to 23.00 hours. During the night there are 9 lines that have daily departures from the center of Seville (from the Prado station in San Sebastian) from 00:00 to 02:00 on weekdays and until 05:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. The lines that reach the Alameda or its nearby areas are 3, 32, 41, the circular lines C1 and C2 (in the Torre de los Perdigones) and all those that reach the nearby Plaza del Duque.
  • If cycling is your thing , you’re in luck. Sevici’s rental bikes have a station in the Alameda itself. The electric scooters of the companies Lime and Bird or the electric motorcycles of Acciona and Muving have also arrived in Seville. All of them work with their own app just like Uber or Cabify VTCs. There is also a taxi service, with stops in the Alameda and its surroundings.
  • The nearest metro stop is at Puerta de Jerez (Line 1).
  • Our service provider, Cohosting, offers you the alternative of renting a vehicle for longer journeys.

Leisure and gastronomic options in the Alameda

Although making a summary of the gastronomic and leisure offer offered by the Alameda is almost impossible due to its extensive variety, in addition to the fact that this will be the subject of another post on this blog, today we want to give you a preview:

  • You can’t leave Seville without visiting the Calle Feria Market (with tapas places) and, while you’re at it, and if you happen to have a Thursday, stop by the Thursday Market (on Calle Feria).
  • Another of the essential places is the Vizcaíno (also on Calle Feria). Having a cold beer or a good vermouth there is almost a must.
  • From this street you can look out over the San Lorenzo area. There you will find the famous Casa Ricardo, with its delicious traditional tapas.
  • Some of the popular gastronomic establishments in the area are the Duo Tapas, El Aljibe, La Mata, the Maquila, La Azotea, Matsuri, No Piqui, Chifa Tapas or the Karpanta.
  • If you want to continue ‘alamede’ in cocktail bars, we suggest a visit to the Corral del Esquivel, the mythical Habanilla Café, the Central or the Fun Club, Caja Negra or Sala Holiday clubs.
  • The leisure options also include seeing some of the plays or performances at the Alameda Theatre; signing up for one of the express flamenco courses (on weekends) offered by the Taller Flamenco school (on Calle Peral, right next to our Singular Peral apartments); visiting the Mudejar art of the Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba; listening to some jazz in the Naima Sevilla; visit the nearby Palacio de Dueñas, Setas de la Encarnación, Plaza de San Lorenzo or the basilicas of Gran Poder and Macarena or stop by the beautiful premises of El Gusanito lector (bookshop on Calle Feria) or the galleries Birimbao, Delimbo or La Galería Roja.
