Although autumn has already been definitively established in the calendar, in Seville we still enjoy warm days when we want to go out and enjoy the many outdoor plans that the city offers us. We will not tire of saying that one of the best times to visit the capital of Seville is precisely autumn, despite the fact that Seville is welcoming and interesting at any time of the year. Within the extensive autumn leisure program that our city has, we could not miss the traditional autumn concerts that we have been organizing for three years at Singular Apartments, to which our also typical Christmas concert will be added later. Good music with the best professionals, unbeatable atmosphere and in the best possible environment: the courtyard of our Singular Corral de San José building, located on Calle Jimios in the heart of the city centre (Arenal area).
Our historic Corral de San José
In the Singular Apartments family we are much more than a tourist accommodation company. We want the stay of those who choose us to be exceptional and therefore, in addition to offering the best comforts in our apartments, we make sure that the experience is as complete as possible. How? Proposing and informing our tenants of the best offers and leisure plans in the city. Our commitment to culture is absolute. And to prove it ourselves, we organize multiple activities, such as the autumn and Christmas concerts that we will talk about later. Before we want to discover several details of the unique setting in which we develop our concerts: the Corral de San José.
The courtyard of the Corral de San José building is a heritage asset of the city dating back to the sixteenth century. This unique space was first a convent, later a hospital of the carpenters’ guild of Ribera to whose patron saint, San José, owes its name. Later, at the end of the eighteenth century, it became a corral of neighbors, maintaining the same name. Today, the building maintains a corral structure, with the location of apartments around a central courtyard.
In the center of the courtyard we can see a pillar as a small altar where three tiles with the images of San José, San Vicente Ferrer and San Juan Nepomuceno are reflected. These tiles are copies of other originals that were installed in 1764 and that were stolen or destroyed during the intermediate period in which the building was abandoned and the future restoration. At its feet we can see a pool with a fountain where colorful fish swim in a sea of tranquility.
Since 2008 Singular Apartments has managed the Corral de San José building, offering tourists accommodation in a special place, declared of ethnological interest by the Ministry of Culture.
Autumn and Christmas concerts
Once the White Night is over, the last event successfully held at the Corral de San José, we focus on the next appointments of our third cycle of concerts, the autumn concert and the Christmas concert, for which we have two years of previous experience.
There is already a date for the ‘Autumn Concert 2019’. With free admission for anyone who wants to enjoy the Corral de San José, it will be next Saturday, November 23, from noon (12.00/12.30 hours). On this occasion, soul, with a touch of jazz, will be the musical protagonists by the group Bendita Soul made up of the artists Vicky Luna (vocals), Leticia Romero (bass and vocals), and Javier Pereyra (guitar and vocals). All of them will delight the audience with an unforgettable recital, which will be enlivened with an ambigu so that the enjoyment is even greater. And if the temperatures had dropped a little more, we will also have pink blankets, the corporate color of Singular Apartments, so that our guests can combat the cold.
The 2017 and 2018 editions of the autumn concerts were also very special. In 2017 we celebrated them for several Saturdays with the Argentine tango of Javier Pereyra and Félix Roquero; the jazz and blues of Ms Jones & Kid Carlos; and Carmen Lara’s flamenco as musical axes. Last year our autumn concert was baptized as ‘Bendita Soul’ and featured the voice of Vicky Luna, the bass and backing vocals of Leticia Romero and the guitar and voice of Javier Pereyra, who will repeat this year.
Later, and in view of the Christmas holidays, we will celebrate the ‘Christmas Concert’ which, as in the last two editions, will be made up of a repertoire of Anglo-Saxon, Latin American and flamenco carols. This year’s will be held on December 14. Like the previous ones, it will be free of charge and will be accompanied by a popular stew to warm the stomachs.
It will be a good time to enjoy this family season in the best company. At Singular Apartments we love Christmas and the decoration of our apartments for the occasion is always especially careful.
