Autumn activity has already spread to all corners of the city. The new cultural programme is for the first time. The exhibition halls have presented their new season and we already know the calendar of concerts and events that are to come during the coming months. One of them, the one that opens the cultural autumn in the city after the summer, the White Night of Seville, is celebrated this coming Friday, October 4. And Singular Apartments is part of this event for the third consecutive year. In our commitment to culture, we are once again involved with the White Night and this year we are not only doing it with a wonderful activity that we will now make you aware of, but we have also done so by sponsoring the event. The White Night of Seville has been organized by the citizen association ‘Sevillasemueve’ for eight years in our city.
The best opportunity to enjoy the courtyard of the Corral de San José
For Singular Apartments it will be the third consecutive year with the White Night of Seville. The courtyard of our Singular Corral de San José building, located on Jimios Street in the heart of the center (Arenal area), will be the setting for an unforgettable open-air concert designed expressly for the White Night.
The courtyard of the Corral de San José building, a heritage asset of the city dating back to the sixteenth century, will remain open that night on the occasion of the celebration of our White Night concert for all those who want to know it. All will be welcome.
But before discovering the details of the concert prepared for the White Night, a few brushstrokes of the history of this unique enclave.
The origins of Corral de San José date back to the sixteenth century. It was first a convent, later a hospital of the carpenters’ guild of Ribera to whose patron saint, San José, it owes its name. At the end of the eighteenth century it became a corral of neighbors maintaining the same name: Corral de San José. At present, the building maintains a corral structure, with the location of rooms around a central courtyard, although in this case it stands out for being one of the few examples that still survive of the model of silting or occupation of the residual or interior plot of a block. In the center of the courtyard we can see a pillar as a small altar where three tiles with the images of San José, San Vicente Ferrer and San Juan Nepomuceno are reflected. These tiles are copies of other originals that were installed in 1764 and that were stolen or destroyed during the intermediate period in which the building was abandoned and the future restoration. At its feet we can see a pool with a fountain where colorful fish swim in a sea of tranquility.
Currently this building is one of the symbols of the new tourism of Seville. Since 2008 Singular apartments has managed the Corral de San José building, offering tourists accommodation in a special place, declared of ethnological interest by the Ministry of Culture.
Our open-air concert: ‘Melodies of the heart’
As we mentioned before, Singular Apartments participates in the White Night of Seville for the third consecutive year and, again, in the wonderful enclave of the courtyard of the Singular Corral de San José building.
It will be through an unforgettable open-air concert baptized as ‘Melodies of the heart, great Spanish interpreters’, which will feature the wonderful voice and guitar of the artist Javier Pereyra, the percussion of Dani Galiano and the piano of Nono Sánchez.
Our artists will perform a repertoire of songs that we all remember (songs by Nino Bravo, Camilo Sesto, José Luis Perales, Julio Iglesias, Manuel Serrat or Raphael) in a concert, with free admission, that will begin at 8:30 p.m. And to make our White Night activity even more unforgettable, the evening will also have an ambigu so that the delight of the senses is more complete.
